Rodney Poe is an R&B singer, songwriter, and electrifying performer whose voice has echoed across some of music’s most iconic stages. Best known for his time as a member of the legendary R&B group Blackstreet during the celebrated BS2 era, Poe was personally selected to uphold the group’s tradition of powerhouse vocals, smooth harmonies, and high-energy live performance.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Rodney’s musical journey began in the church, singing alongside his family group, The Precious Poes. That early spiritual foundation shaped the rich, emotive vocal style that would later catch the attention of industry tastemakers in Atlanta. After leading the Milwaukee-based R&B collective Special Request, Rodney transitioned into a successful solo career while also becoming an important chapter in the Blackstreet lineage—helping carry forward the New Jack Swing legacy pioneered by Teddy Riley.
