TLC biopic shatters VH1 record

TLC’s TV biopic “Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story” drew 4.5 million viewers on Monday night, becoming the most-watched original movie in VH1 network history.

In addition, the film’s soundtrack, entitled 20, jumped from 43 to five on the iTunes album charts.

For the two surviving members of the group, it was uncomfortable watching actresses portray them. Even harder: watching Lil Mama play Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who died in 2002.

Chilli Thomas says “the resemblance was just crazy at times.” Lil Mama wore contacts to mimic Lisa’s large, dark pupils — and Thomas says seeing someone look and act like Left Eye “was kind of eerie at times.”

Keke Palmer plays Chilli and Drew Sidora is T-Boz.

T-Boz says watching actresses play them was a revelation. She says: “You never know how you look to someone else until you see for yourself.”
